Park University to Launch Reduced Credit Bachelor鈥檚 Degree
New degree attainable in three years instead of four
September 17, 2026 鈥� Park University鈥檚 new Bachelor of Professional Studies is one of the first reduced credit hour degrees to be accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and offered in the Kansas City area. The degree can be completed in as little as three years. Focusing on skills rather than number of courses allowed us to build a program that requires as few as 91 credit hours, rather than the 120 found in four-year degrees. Fewer classes mean lower student costs and a quicker path to an impactful career. With transfer credit and summer classes, students can choose to move even faster. The degree is available fully online or through a combination of on-campus and online courses.

Sustainability studies will be the first program to offer this new bachelor鈥檚 degree. Sustainability is a core concern for the future of governments, businesses, and entrepreneurs. By thoughtfully addressing sustainability issues our students can help design smart regulatory frameworks, design business processes that constrain waste and pollution in ways that increase profit or go on to lead research with transformative potential. The multidisciplinary program builds the scientific understanding needed to stay at the cutting edge of research, the analytical skills to frame problems in ways that invite solutions, and the management skills to drive change in any organization, private or public.

Park University is one of only 16% of all U.S. colleges and universities recognized as both a Professions-focused university and an opportunity college by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.
